The MiniMod CVMix-Offset-VCA is a compact 10hp wide Eurorack format module. It has been developed to offer a range of useful utilities for the MiniMod system and of course other Eurorack synthesisers..

It comprises a four channel polarising mixer, amplifier, inverter, a voltage source and a DC coupled VCA with switchable CV offset.

Uses include mixing together CV modulation sources, mixing an offset voltage with a CV source, converting a bipolar +/- 5V modulation into a unipolar 0 to +5V.

The Complex Envelope Generator is based on one channel of the existing MiniMod Dual EG. In order to increase versatility, it has a Release control added to the envelope so that it is full ADSR but still with the characteristics of the Model D.
However, further additions were made: a pulse delay and pulse stretch circuit, along with a re-trigger facility (both of these can be switched out of circuit so that the envelope is a simple ADSR unit). The addition of pulse conditioning and retrigger makes it into an LFO module and it can perform in a similar way to the EMS Synthi A and VCS3 Trapezoid generator, but with a full ADSR envelope too…

This is a precision active buffer and multiple. This module has outstanding performance: it features very high input impedance, very low output impedance and an offset voltage of 1mV.

Not all active multi’s are born equal, some designs do not fully solve impedance mismatch and tracking problems ..or they apply offset voltages to the output and in rare cases can cause more problems than they solve!

AJH Synth have added a very useful (and unique) feature to cure tracking problems: four of the five outputs can be adjusted up or down by +/-5% from the front panel, so that VCO’s and VCF’s that don’t track 1V/Oct exactly can be easily compensated to track correctly without having to re-calibrate the VCO or VCF themselves.

It features front panel switchable octave selection and four independent waveform outputs including the famous “Sharktooth” wave, Sawtooth wave, Square wave and Triangle wave.

The Square wave output now has fully adjustable Pulse Width Modulation, with manual and CV control rather than the more restricting selection of two static fixed pulse widths or square wave of the original design.

The stuff of legends, the Moog transistor ladder filter changed the face of the musical landscape forever. The MiniMod VCF is a faithful replica of the 24db/octave low pass filter used in the early Model D synthesiser.

There is a three channel input mixer and a nice large filter cutoff control, along with “1/3” and “2/3” CV inputs to emulate the action of the original VCF keyboard switches, apply 1v/oct to either of these inputs and the VCF keyboard tracking will be the same as the original with Keyboard 1 (1/3) or 2 (2/3) engaged, or use the 1v/oct input to emulate both switches selected. There is a variable Exponential CV input which is about 30% more sensitive than the 1v/oct input, this allows some nice over modulation effects.

We have added Voltage Controlled Resonance (Emphasis) in addition to manual Emphasis control. This uses a vactrol as the control element. The fast vactrol used allows modulation speeds up into the audio range. The filter will of course self resonate and act as a sine wave oscillator too.

There is also an overdrive facility which can be selected with an onboard jumper. This allows the input to the filter core to be substantially overdriven, great for adding a bit of extra dirt to the sound.

The Sonic XV Eurorack module is a four pole Diode Ladder Filter, featuring the circuitry and sound of the Musonics Sonic V synthesiser, which has a quite different character from transistor ladder filters. In addition to the regular 24dB Low Pass output we have added a 6dB Low Pass output and a Bandpass output, along with full voltage control of the resonance.

Two waveshapers have been added to hugely increase the sonic versatility of this module. There is a breakpoint based wavefolder on the input, with drive level that can be manually adjusted or voltage contolled. A bias control switch allows extra waveshape variations.

A second waveshaper is connected to the resonance circuit, which adds distortion and waveshaping to the resonance loop signal, again the drive can be adjusted manually or under full voltage control. A wet/dry mix control allows resonance waveshaping to be added from 0 to 100%.

It also has a Frequency Doubling switch, from a single triangle or sine wave input an octave +1 output is generated

Two independent Sub Bass generators with very fast tracking, creating -1 Octave and -2 Octaves from the X input. These are not simple square wave subs, they generate specially shaped waveforms and are useful up to 1kHz – they have a much lower harmonic content than square wave subs, designed to have more power and sit much better in a mix.

A five input DC coupled mixer based on the discrete transistor CP3 modular design dating back to 1974. The Outputs of the ring modulator, X and Y inputs and Sub Bass outputs are routed to the mixer by default – plugging a patch cable into any of the mixer inputs defeats this normalising and allows it to be used as a regular 5 channel mixer for both audio and control voltages.

A clipping / distortion module – input 5 of the mixer is considerably “hotter” than the other four mixer channels and will clip the signal as soon as it hits threshold level.
