IMPULSE INTEGRATOR MODEL OF 1981

Bytom is a simple – yet very useful – utility module that allows you to combine various trigger/gate signal sources to obtain interesting rhythmic events ? useful for sequencing, modulation and patch ?automation? purposes. It can also be used for summing control voltages of a positive polarity. The module consists of three independent sections. Each one can process up to four signals fed to its inputs. All three sections can be normalled into one 12-signal combination via the manual switches. Either the upper or lower section can be combined with the middle section to form an 8-signal combination. Summed signals of two or three sections will appear on the middle section’s output socket. The individual outs on upper and lower units remain active even when combined with the middle section.

Comb is an IIR peaking comb filter with control over cutoff frequency, resonance that can be driven into self oscillation, and a dampening filter in the feedback path.

An incredibly short, tuned delay line will alter the character of your input by imposing harmonic peaks on the source. Subtle settings can result in thickening timbres, reminiscent of phaser-like effects, while more extreme settings can create lustrous string sounds from white noise, or tear your waveform to shreds.

Explore new sonic territory with Comb.

BINARY CONVERSION KOMPUTOR MODEL OF 1989

Drezno and Lipsk are the first in series of modules which constitute The Leibniz Binary Subsystem, a group of 8-bit signal processing devices offering comprehensive digital signal manipulation, as well as audio signal, control voltage, trigger, and gate generation. Drezno is the input/output front-end of the system, consisting of an analog–to–digital converter (ADC) and a digital–to–analog converter (DAC), that alone can be used for manipulating analog signals and voltages based on their binary representation.

/Universal subsystem for creating and processing analog signals in the 8-bit digital domain
/Suitable for CV and audio processing with no aliasing
/Independent ADC & DAC
/Near 2Mhz internal clock with external clock inputs to both converters

ANALOG RESONANT PHASE ROTATOR MODEL OF 1977

Kamieniec is an analog signal processing module directly inspired by a range of classic phaser effect units from 1970s that helped to define entire musical genres. Most of these classic devices contained a fairly small number of phase shifting stages, but made up for that lack with tons of character! However, what was initially intended for guitars is not necessarily sufficient for synthesizers. Therefore, our intention is to preserve the classic sound as we transport it to a new tonal space while prioritizing flexible modular usability.

Just like many of the famous OTA-based phasers of the 1970s, Kamieniec sports four tunable stages. However, we’ve included two additional fixed stages so as to increase the number of notches, and ultimately offer two versions of the mixed signal (that may be used as a stereo pair) at the two outputs of the unit. While the general topology is similar to a certain very classic phaser pedal, the circuitry has been redesigned with modern components and low noise opamps to bring down the noise floor, improve the bandwidth, and offer a wider range of tuning. The feedback control can be set extremely deep, which results in a very high resonance that is capable of self-oscillation. This produces a unique sound otherwise unreachable for typical phasers, that can vary from subtle and creamy to utterly brutal and grinding. On top of that we’ve included switchable feedback paths, individual stage group outputs, CV inputs, built-in LFO, and daisy chaining ability to provide a comprehensive integration with a modular synthesizer system.

/Analog 4/6-stage phaser inspired by the 70s classics
/Simultaneous four and six-stage outputs
/Onboard voltage controlled wide range LFO
/Additional external modulation input
/Independent LFO output
/Two feedback modes

BIT INVERSION COMMANDER MODEL OF 1989

Lipsk facilitates the inversion of the individual bits produced by Drezno (or any other module connected to its input header at the back), and delivers the resulting code to its output header. Bit inversion can be manually controlled by pressing any of combination of its eight illuminated buttons, or it can be automated by patching gate signals into its gate input sockets. An active (5V) gate flips the state of the respective bit. If the button is active (bit already flipped), then the gate flips the bit again yielding double inversion (no inversion). The corresponding LEDs show the combined effect of both manual and gate actions. The bit processing logic is hardware-based, so there is virtually no latency, allowing the binary signals to be manipulated at extreme rates.

/Element of the universal subsystem for creating and processing analog signals in the 8-bit digital domain
/Suitable for CV and audio processing with no aliasing
/Bit inversion with manual and CV gate control
/No latency logic processing

Plaits is the spiritual successor of Mutable Instruments’ best-selling voltage-controlled sound source, Braids. Not just a mkII version: its hardware and software have been redesigned from scratch.

Just like its predecessor, it offers direct access to a large palette of easily tweakable sounds, covering the whole gamut of synthesis techniques. What has changed is the interface: gone are the screen, menu system, hidden settings, and the long list of somewhat redundant synthesis models.

Thanks to additional CV inputs, and to the use of 3 timbre-shaping parameters per model, Plaits is straightforward to use, and much closer to the ideal of one synthesis technique = one model. What were fragmented islands of sound in Braids are now part of a continuum of sounds.

The module is very easy to use as a stand-alone voice or percussive source: its built-in low-pass gate allows the module to be operated without a VCF or VCA, and an internal decay envelope is normalled to some of the CV inputs.

Great care has been taken regarding audio quality, anti-aliasing, and CV interpolation, resulting in a richer, cleaner sound.

All this for less HP, mA, and € than the original!

VOLTAGE CONTROLLED STEREO MIXING CONSOLE MODEL OF 1967

Praga is an expandable four-channel voltage controlled mixer featuring a stereo mixing bus, two auxiliary sends with stereo returns, clickless muting, dedicated modes for unipolar and bipolar voltage control over volume, DC-coupling, and a super-clean signal path obtained via high-quality VCA and opamp chips.

We have carefully crafted Praga’s voltage control response to achieve what we believe to be the optimal user experience found in an eurorack mixer. The design features an elaborate control circuit that combines the internal voltages generated by the panel potentiometers with external CV over volume and pan. The result is a natural attenuator response that constrains VCA gain to an usable range while minimizing distortion.

/Intuitive volume control behaviour
/Voltage control over volume and pan
/Dedicated modes for unipolar and bipolar voltage control over volume
/DC-coupled signal path
/Channel level indicators
